Dave Matthews Band tickets
Dave and his band will launch their 2010 summer tour with a pair of Memorial Day Weekend shows in Connecticut and then stay out on the road through mid-September.
The three-month-plus excursion starts off May 28 and 29 in Hartford, CT, and will entertain 40 cities in all before finishing on Sept. 15 in St. Paul, MN. Highlights include two July nights (7/16 and 7/17) at Citi Field in New York City, and an Aug. 23 appearance at Los Angeles’ historic Hollywood Bowl. Dates are at right.
A variety of opening acts will join the tour at various stages, including Gov’t Mule, Ben Harper, Brett Dennen, The Felice Brothers and others.
“Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King,” which surfaced last summer, marks the band’s first studio set since the death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore last summer. Guitarist Tim Reynolds returned to the studio with the band for the record–his first recording with DMB since 1998’s “Before These Crowded Streets.”
The set debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in early June, moving about 424,000 copies during its first week on store shelves to make the album the band’s fifth consecutive studio set to open with first week sales of at least 400,000 copies.
The album is up for two awards–Album of the Year and Best Rock Album–at this weekend’s 52nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The group will also perform on the show’s broadcast, which will air Jan. 31 on CBS.

Formed in Virginia in the early 1990’s, Dave Matthews Band quickly developed an intensely loyal, grassroots following intrigued by its eclectic sound and compelling live performances. Today, with 14 million tickets sold, the Grammy Award winning Dave Matthews Band is consistently one of the top draws on the concert circuit. 2005’s Stand Up, the group’s most recent studio album, was Dave Matthews Band’s fourth consecutive studio album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200. It was followed in 2006 by the band’s first-ever retrospective – The Best of What’s Around, Vol. 1 – a double disc set capturing many of the band’s hits, including “What Would You Say,” “Crash Into Me” and “American Baby.”
